How the Wetwall Caddy creates a reliable shower mixer seal
Every shower mixer and outlet requires a penetration through the wall lining. If water gets behind the faceplate and that penetration is not properly protected, it can track into the wall cavity and reach framing, insulation and surrounding materials before there are obvious signs of a problem. Unsealed penetrations are a main cause of hidden water damage behind wet-area walls.
The Wetwall Caddy encloses the mixer and outlet within a moulded ABS unit fixed to the framing. It seals around the penetrations and is designed so that any water entering the caddy is directed back out through the front access opening, where it can be seen rather than disappearing into the wall.
The pipe penetrations sit above the lowest point of the front opening, so water exits towards the room before it can reach those penetrations. Once installed behind the wall lining, the caddy requires no ongoing maintenance and continues protecting the cavity throughout the life of the wet area.
Standard, tap and custom Wetwall Caddy options
A standard Wetwall Caddy shower pack includes a large caddy for the shower mixer, a smaller caddy for the outlet and a packer to suit different mixer set-outs. Together, they protect the two wall penetrations created in a typical shower installation.
The standard range suits around 98% of shower mixers on the New Zealand market and is designed around common framing and wall lining requirements. Tap packs are also available for other wet area applications.
If your tapware falls outside the standard range, such as an inline mixer, diverter or unusual designer fitting, we can create a Custom Wetwall Caddy to suit the specific tapware and pipework layout.
Simple installation for tiled and acrylic showers
Wetwall Caddies are installed at framing stage, with a typical installation taking around 10 minutes. The caddy is fixed at the correct depth before the wall lining is completed, giving the plumber, waterproofer and tiler a defined point to work to.
For tiled showers, the wall lining is installed first, followed by the caddy flange, waterproofing membrane and tiles. The access hole is cut to suit the mixer manufacturer's requirements, then the penetrations are sealed as part of the finished installation.
For acrylic lined showers, the caddy is positioned at the required depth behind the wall lining before the acrylic liner is fitted over it. Although the installation sequence differs from a tiled shower, the wall penetration still needs to be properly protected.

Compliance, servicing access and where to buy
Wetwall Caddy is designed to form part of a complete wet area waterproofing system by protecting the penetrations created for shower mixers and outlets. It gives waterproofers and tilers a defined point to finish their membrane and sealing work, while preserving the access opening required to service the tapware from the front.
That access is important over the life of the shower. If a cartridge or ceramic disc needs replacing, the mixer can be serviced by removing the faceplate rather than breaking tiles or opening the wall. Sealing directly onto the mixer sleeve can interfere with this required access and may affect tapware warranty conditions.
